Our school was formally opened on the 18th January 1875 by John Walter MD of Bearwood at whose expense it was built. On the opening day 72 children were present and several parishioners. At the time Rev H. S. Leanny was the Vicar at St. John's C of E Church. 

In 2000 the school officially opened its Millennium garden as shown on the right. This was designed with the help of the children. The garden is based around a tree theme with branches off the main path. In the centre is a solar powered fountain.
