Welcome to Reception. Our teacher is Miss Roberts. Miss Owen, Miss Ashton, Mrs Ottaway and Miss Beechey also help in our classroom during the year as well. At the moment there are 29 children in our class. Each term more children enter and in the summer we can be up to 30 children. We invite rising rising fives to come and spend the morning with us. We all really enjoy coming to our school, learning, playing and meeting with our friends. Our class is a brilliant class. We enjoy doing lots of different things.
During the week we spend time outside and like to investigate the school surroundings. Recently we have been looking at the bulbs growing and have looked at our school. We have a Chinese restuarant in our home corner at the moment. We have just finished looking at Dinosaurs and have had great fun. Now we are looking at different buildings and our families.
Everyday we have fruit as part of the government scheme. We are a very healthy class and have fruit stickers when we eat our fruit and vegetables.
We love going on the computers and really enjoy using the mouse to make different pictures. We are learning to programme toys and work with Bee-bots. We are really good at using computers. P.E. is also a great hit at the moment we are going on the apparatus and climbing the wall bars. We think P.E. is fantastic.
We are learning about different sounds with Letters and Sounds and have been practicing them lots. We have phonic boxes that go home every night with a new sound or word. Some of us are even trying to join up letters. Our writing is fantastic and lots of us are using capital letter correctly with finger spaces and full stops. Miss Roberts is very proud of us.
We have been learning about numbers, shapes and length. We are getting good at our numbers. We also have opportunities to do lots of painting, cutting, sticking, making, drawing and other fun activities.
We make lots of different things. We have been studying different festivals. During this term we have looked at Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday and St Davids Day. We all tried pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and most of us thought that they were yummy scrummy. We also showed the school our class assembly and took on different roles. Some of us learnt words and spoke them out to the whole school and lots and lots of parents. We were really brave.
Two of our class are reps on the School Council.
