Year 6 have been looking at different techniques they can use when writing narratives.
They have ‘experimented' with their work. Here are two examples.
28th April 2010
LI: To empathise with a character, write their story.
All I saw was a flash of black. But I already knew what it was. It landed in the chimney, the boys burst through the door, with buckets of wet sand, they frantically attacked the bomb with sand, rugs and anything else they could find. Mikeys yell stirred my mind, I ran as fast as I could into Mikeys room, grabbed him by the hand I ran to the end of the room, still holding Mikey and grabbed the picture off its stand. Then flew down the stairs and out the door. I ran for my life. I had only one chance to look back, I took it. I peered through the mist. I saw the boys rushing out for wet sand. I felt Mikeys body trembling against mine. The sky was filled with screams and fire. Finally we reached the dug-out. I laid Mikey on the bench, my heart was pounding, once we had settled in, I looked out of the door there was no sign of them "my boys" "Ivan, Pud ..." "Mum" It was them.
I looked down at the picture of my husband, a handsome man "I wish you were here".
