This money is much needed for items the school would like to purchase to make improvements to the school, which, in turn, benefit your children.  Items the PTA purchase are ones that the school cannot afford, which is why it is so important to hold these events.  The events are a great way for us to socialise, as well as raise the necessary funds.  I hope you all support this ethos.

The PTA wants to put on these events but obviously a lot of work and organisation is needed to put them together.  At present we simply do not have enough people who step forward and help.  This does not necessarily mean you have to give hours and none of these tasks are ever so onerous or complicated.  In fact, it is a great way to meet and socialise with others.  It really is true that “more hands make light work”.  We honestly cannot achieve these events without more help!!! If you have skill that can be offered let us know.  If we know when an event occurs we can contact you.  Put your skills, name and child’s name and place it in the PTA box in the school office. Currently we need assistance with the following events.

Summer Fete

Allyson Lean, with a small team organised this event and this year she is happy to take on the responsibility of leading it again but does need more parents to help.  At present we need at least 4 people to help with the advertising programme.  This involves distributing a circular letter into local shops.  The letter explains the cost of advertising and most owners have seen the letter from previous years.  After a week a follow up call to the shop is required asking if they want an advert or can offer a prize for the tombola.  There is no hard sell as most shops want to advertise.  One person is needed to bring the adverts and programme together.  Finally, when collecting the adverts we need to collect payment.  A lot of us live in Crowthorne village and pass these shops all the time, so actually we are not even going out of our way to help.  The programme represents a large portion of the funds raised for the Fete.  Please can anyone help.   See Holly or Allyson  Crowthorne Carnival – Rythmn of Life

Many of you will already know that our school has won the best float in the Schools Category at the Crowthorne Carnival.  Much of this success is down to Danzi and the children that participate.  The children really love being on the float and parading through the village.  This year Danzi is going to concentrate her skills on the Flower Display, thank you Danzi.  Consequently we have no one at the moment to organise a float for our school.  We need a team of parents to use the theme “Rythmn of Life” and put together a float.  Ideas have already been mentioned and Danzi is willing to help in the idea making.  If any of you can help, and it does not have to be complicated please please let Allyson or Holly know.  Mums always dress the children on the day with the relevant outfit and help with face painting,  it is more about creating a float.  If we do not get anyone to come forward the Crowthorne cofe Primary School we will not be entering. Quiz Night

In previous years we have held a quiz night, thanks to Tom and Julie Roberts.    Allyson and I have attended these and have thoroughly enjoyed them.  It is a cheap night out where we bring our own food and wine and try not to win the wooden spoon!  We would like to try and resurrect this event so have put a date in the diary.  At the moment we have no one to run this event.  If you feel you could fit this role let Allyson or Holly know.  If we don’t get anyone we will have to cancel this date.  Cake Sales

Cake Sales are back.   Children love coming out on a Friday afternoon to buy their cakes so below is a list of date for this year.  We will contact each year group for cake donations nearer the time. 21st May         Year 628th May        Year 511th June        Year 425th June       Year 32nd July          Year 29th July          Year 116th July         Reception

Chair Person Vacancy

Both Allyson and Holly have decided the time has come to step down as co-chair.  We have enjoyed the post and have found it both social and challenging.  We would therefore like to take the opportunity of thanking everyone who has supported us both over the years.  Sarah Kidd who has been the PTA secretary has taken the same decision and we would like to thank her for all her work. With this in mind we are looking for someone/s to replace us.  If you think you would be interested in being a Chair or Co-chair or secretary please put your name, year group and role you are interested in to Mrs Paterson.  If you need any more information about the role come and chat to either of us.  Anyone who nominates themselves must attend the next meeting.  If more than one nomination comes forward a vote will take place at the next PTA meeting.  We will both be stepping down at the next PTA meeting, to be held on Wednesday 24th March.  Unfortunately if no one steps forward then there will be no PTA and consequently no events to raise funds for the school.

Survey

We are trying to find out what you as parents want out of the PTA and will be asking the year reps to complete a survey to each year group.  We would like to know if you are interested in Adult and/or Family events.  What sort of events you would be more interested in attending and whether you would prefer to make a monthly voluntary contribution rather than any events.

Website

Many of you may realise from the snow how important our school website is for passing on information to all parents.  There is much information not only about the school but also about the PTA., the events, minutes of PTA meetings and our newsletter etc.  It would be really great if more of us use this tool.  The website is www.crowthornecofe.co.uk.
