Spring Term
This term we will be spending more time working as a class and less time choosing our own learning.
In English we will be watching the moving image 'Once in a Lifetime' to inspire our English writing. We will be drawing on our knowledge of our science unit to write a report on our favourite reptiles using the 'Big Book of Beasts' as an example. We will be reading and writing our own seaside poems before finishing the year writing stories using 'Stick Man' and some of our Intrepid Explorers from our geography unit as stimuli.
In Maths we will continue to consolidate our understanding of place value to 100 and continue to use our known facts to derive related subtraction and addition. We will learn how to find half and quarter of shapes and number linking them to our understanding of telling the time to the quarter hour. We will continue to count in groups of 2, 5, 10 and use all of our knowledge to solve mathematical problems.
Our topics units will focus history, including comparing the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. We will also be exploring the world with our Intrepid Explorers unit, focused on Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. In Science we will think about how to classify animals and conduct some experiments into plant growth. We will continue to learn and compare the faiths of Christianity and Sikhism. We would welcome any parents who have any expertise in any of our units this term to come and visit us in class!
Later in the term we would love to organise a visit to our local library - watch this space!
