What will we be learning this half term?
This half term we will continue with our theme of Fairy Tales and the children will get the opportunity to bake their own gingerbread man. We will then move on to some topic work about Toys which will include how toys move using push, pull and twisting forces. We will also find out about how toys were different in the past and we’ll look at some toys and games from different places around the world. The children will continue to learn new phonics sounds each week including more digraphs. As they become confident with blending they will start to read Little Wandle Reading Practise books matched to their phonics ability. In writing, the children will begin to write simple sentences. The children will continue to develop their counting skills (beyond 20), alongside deepening their understanding of the composition of numbers through the part-whole model. Children will begin to explore measurement through making comparisons and measuring using non-standard units. They will also learn to name and describe common 2-d shapes. And of course, we will round off the term by learning about the Nativity story and performing our Christmas Carol Concert for parents.
