School Council
We elected our School Council representatives on Wednesday 25th September with children voting for candidates after listening to their manifestos.
Our school council is made up of three constituencies: Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6. Each constituency has three representatives, pictured below.
We also have a continuity representative from Year 6 who was on School Council last year.
Our School Council meets every 2-3 weeks with Mrs Hicks to discuss ideas about how to improve and develop our school. They take discussion points back to their classes and feed back their peers' views to the school council.
Eco-Team
Last year we successfully renewed our Green Flag Award and we are now ready to begin another cycle and go for our third Green Flag!
Our school's Eco-team is made up of 6 children who have been elected from Years 1 to 6. We meet at least once a month to plan and carry out projects to help make our school more sustainable. We make sure everyone in the school gets involved and we keep people informed through verbal feedback to classes, information on our noticeboard, school newsletters, our website and social media.
Since September we have elected our new team and we have worked together as a school to carry out an Environmental Review. The results of the Review showed that we are doing well with Litter and Healthy Living (scoring 7 out of 10 in each of these areas) but less well in our School Grounds (scoring 3 out of 10). You can take a look at our Environmental Review by clicking on the link below.
These results helped us to decide on 3 targets for this year's Action Plan and these are summarised here. You can see more detail if you click on the link below.
Target 1 - To grow herbs for the school canteen to use in our school meals.
Target 2 - To have an energy saving week to raise awareness of climate change and what we can do to save energy.
Target 3 - To make sure rubbish is being sorted correctly into our new "mixed recycling" and "general waste" bins.
Watch this space to see how we are working towards these goals!
